Hyath

The regions of Yoll, Craiglothe, Hyath and Marlan rebel against Astic rule.  Initial stand-off breaks out into conflict in 973 with a series of indecisive battles.

Heavy defeat of a Marlan army at      prompts their capitulation. Temporary peace signed with other regions.

Warien, Chatrif and Branthian persuaded to join the southern rebels. A quick Astic counter-strike against the lands ends in defeat. Rebellion begins in earnest; Marlan rejoins in 977.

Astmad temporarily buys off the northern rebels.  Pushes southern forces back.

Warien City captured, sacked and razed by Astic forces. Incident causes Chatrif and Branthian to rejoin rebellion.

Bedral sends limited aid to Astmad, tipping balance back in their favour. Another period of relative peace, with a degree of autonomy offered by Astic crown.

Peace breaks down; Hyath, Craiglothe and Yoll steps up their push for full independence. Reluctantly sanctioned by Huwdone House, Elsey and Kratz send troops to aid rebels.

Bedral withdraws support.  Astmad routs a Chatrif/Branthian army but is blocked trying to enter Hyath. Warien and Marlan rejoin rebels.

Marlan City beseiged and part-destroyed. In retaliation, a rebel army is launched from the south and lays waste to the Mellertang Vale.

Chatrif and Branthian rebuild their forces to threaten Astmad's nothern border.  Threatened on all sides, the crown reluctantly grants all rebellious lands their independence. After a decade vainly scheming to win them back, formal recognition is given in 1004. Hyath is governed by an oligarchy; most of the other new countries are ruled by the lords who were dominant under Astmad.

Hyath's oligarchy gives way to the world's first democracy.

Encouraged by Astmad, the region of Pedrop begins a low-grade rebellion against Nesal.

Dell, in north-west Chatrif, rebels, backed by Kakranfé.

Threatened by Astmad, Chatrif gives Dell its independence

Astmad aids Bedral in a complicated border skirmish on the north shores of the Bauxan Sea. Noriscan troops land in Narkusk in 1018 and encourage the region to seek independence from Astmad. Warien gives aid to Astmad.

Bedral withdraws from the fight. Noriscan ships burn or loot Warien's ports on the Bauxan Sea. Nesal's troops march into Pedrop, forcibly capture the capital, execute the rebel leaders and threaten Astmad's eastern borders.

Astmad surrenders to Norisca.  Narkusk gains independence, though is effectivly a puppet nation controlled by Norisca.

War between Chatrif and Branthian, which ends inconclusivly in 1035.

After years of their armies rattling their sabres across the contested Baldan Uplands, war breaks out between Nesal and Astmad. Nesaln troops occupy Gelgath Dale, supposedly Astic territory. Nesal and Marlan sign an alliance.

Astmad defeats a Nesal army and occupies most of the Baldan Uplands. Labland enters the war on Nesal's side. Christoté sends troops to Astmad's side, though they are withdrawn in 1038 following the Garreday Uprisings. Rebellion in Pedrop supported by Astic troops. Astic forces advance a little way into Nesal but withdraw when a Marlan army threatens Astic territory.

Battles at Pedrop, east Badlan and       . Last two inconclusive, first slight victory for Astmad.

Yoll enters the war on Nesal's side and invaides Astmad from the south. Nesal takes advantage of rediversion of forces to capture Baldan Uplands back. Push into Astmad. At end of year, Astmad signs alliances with Hyath and Craiglothe.

Craiglothe attacks Yoll, prompting their withdrawal from war. Series of battles on the Astic/Nesaln border with mixed sucesses, penultimate one leading to death of Marlan king.

Hyath/Craiglothe invades Marlan, captures southern lands and beseiges capital. Marlan surrenders, gives over a sizeable amount of territory to Hyath. Nesal routes an Astic army further north but is unable to consolidate success due to new threat on south-west border. Labland withdraws from the war.

After a surprisingly peaceful independence campaign, Ardanté in southern Yaleth is given a referendum on independence, encouraged by Christoté.  It votes to do so and establishes a democracy. Nesal makes unsucessful attempt to retake Pedrop, Hyath launches an unsucessful invasion of Nesal; the war becomes a stalemate.

Heavy defeat of Nesal army in the Baldan Uplands. Close to bancruptcy, though, the Astic crown signs peace with Nesal. The border in the Baldans effectivly remains the same but Pedrop is granted its independence, heavily under Astmad's protection.

Rebellion in Narkusk against Noriscan control. Astmad sends aid to the rebels, effectivly sparking off what has been dubbed the 'Flaugian War' (actually a series of wars).

Astmad wins control of most of Narkusk, beating off a Noriscan counter-attack. Freshly allied with Norisca, Chatrif launches an attack on Astmad.

Astmad encourages Branthian to counter against Chatrif, embroiling the two in another war. Series of skirmishes in the Bauxan Sea between Astmad and Norisca.

Norisca recaputres parts of coastal Narkusk. Accidentally fires a Warien warship who retaliates, though not allied with Astmad.

Nesal takes advantage of Astmad's distraction to sieze key vallies in the Baldan Uplands. Warien destroys a large part of a Noriscan fleet in the Bauxan Sea.

Norisca withdraws from Narkusk and Warien effectivly moves in. Astmad is distracted by driving Nesal back, with Hyathan help. Marlan joins the conflict, again on Nesal's side, and captures some territory on the Astic border.

Fighting between Warien and Astmad for control of Narkusk ends indecisvely. Another large battle between Astmad and Nesal concludes with an uneasy peace treaty. Yoll reluctantly drawn into the war on Astmad's side and threatens Warien's border.

Erenland, specifically the magnatary of Porité, marches its troops into Warien, virtually uninvited, supposedly to give aid against Astmad.  Hyath becomes embroiled in conflict with Marlan, a left-over from the 1067-8 conflict.

Inconclusive stand-off in the Bauxan conflict. The Chatrif-Branthian war reaches its climaxe with the former surrendering after its capital besieged. Branthian annexes most of coastal Chatrif.

Hyath heavily defeated by Marlan. Prompted by this, the Hyathan democracy is overthrown by a clique of nobles, who establish an oppressive oligarchy.  Heavy fighting on the Warien-Yoll border, also involving Erish and Astic forces.

-6: Lull in the fighting in most areas, though only a precarious peace exists.

Christoté attempts a coup against the ruling Hyathan junta, which only manages to spark off a civil war.  Marlan takes advantage and moves into the east of the country.

Fighting between Marlan and Christoté, the latter reluctantly aided by Astmad.  Hyath is effectivly partitioned into three, between forces of the junta, the rebels/Christoté and Marlan.

Marlan driven back out of Hyath.  Nesal tries to send reinforcements, though distracted by Astmad's troops making incursions into its territory.

Fighting between Nesal and Astmad escalates, taking place in Pedrop and the Baldans.  Much of southern Hyath falls into rebel/Christotan hands.  Rebellion in Warien against rule by Porité begins.

Craiglothe becomes embroiled in the Hyathan conflict, on the side of the junta.  Nesal suffers heavy defeat at hands of Astmad.  Astic troops enter Narkusk, ostensibly giving support against Porité.

Heavy fighting in Narkusk, with Branthian entering on Astmad's side.  String of battles on Astic-Nesal border, Labland sends some aid to latter.

Christoté attacks Craiglothe from the south; then engineers a coup which wipes out most of Hyathan junta.  Hyathan capital falls back into democrats' hands.

Yoll gives some support to Warrish rebels.  Noriscan ships re-enter the eastern Bauxan Sea, ostensibly in support of Astmad, really looking for plunder.  Narkusk capital part-destroyed in fighting.

Craiglothe defeats a Christotan army but the conflict grinds to a peace.  Hyath launches a series of punative raids on Marlan.  Astmad largely withdraws from the Bauxan war to concentrate on Nesal; their place effectivly taken by Norisca, looking to counter Erenland's influence.

-9: Series of battles in Astmad-Nesal war and in Bauxan conflict.

Increasing tensions with Norisca prompt the Erish crown to order Porité to withdraw from Flauge.  They go reluctantly, sacking the Warrish capital before leaving.

Christoté brokers a peace settlement in the Bauxan region, with the independence and borders of Warien being upheld though Narkusk still under Astic 'protection'.  Redirects its energy into propping up the faltering Astic fight against Nesal.

Concerned about Kakranfé, Labland withdraws from the war.  Nesal sues for peace and the borders eventually agreed on again vary little from their original course.

In Marlan, a group of unpaid mercenaries left over from the Flaugian War murders the royal family and siezes the government.  They last until 1096, when they in turn are overthrown by a distant cousin of the erstwhile king.

Rebellion against the Astic in Narkusk is quickly crushed.  The region loses what little semblance of autonomy it possessed.

Chatrif invades the regions it lost to Branthian in 1071.  Makes a series of rapid gains but the war quickly grinds into a stalemate.

Christoté-engineered revolution in Craiglothe.  Royal family flees to Astmad and a democracy established under Lamath Bakese.

Branthian finally suceeds in pushing Chatrif's troops back to their border.  Truce signed.

Thwarted in Branthian, Chatrif launches an invaision of Dell.

Chatrif besieges Arpel. The capital, and most of Dell, has surrendered by the autumn.   Christoté and Kakranfé both give aid to the remaining resistance.  Lamath Bakese uses a minor rebellion in Craiglothe to appoint himself Lord Protector and 'suspend' (i.e. abolish) elections.

Another rebellion against Astmad in Narkusk begins.

After Bakese's reign grows increasingly brutal, Christoté and Yoll invaide Craiglothe to overthrow him.  Craiglothe royal family restored to throne.

Kakranfé tightens its links with Holaich with the completition of the A'Nass road, joining the countries through the Zanzins.

Nesal invades Holaich. The Erish enter Narkusk again, this time in the guise of Delaskei and Bratel giving aid to the rebels.

Formation of the 'Flaugian League', a loose alliance of Astmad, Hyath, Holaich, Chatrif, Yoll, Ardanté, Dell and Pedrop.

Holaich-Nesaln war ends, with some territory ceded to Nesal but Holaich remaining independent.

Peace in Narkusk signed, with both Astmad and Erenland retreating to leave the country independent.

The Flaugian League falls apart amidst mutual bickering and increasing tension between Chatrif and Dell.

Nesal launches another invasion of Holaich.

Backed by Kakranfan troops, Holaich heavily defeats Nesal and regains most of the territory ceded in 1152.

Following the Holaich debacle and with support from Labland, the Nesaln ruling family is deposed and executed.  Establishment of a 'theocracy,' really a line of harsh dictators.  First act is to aid Marlan with an invaision of Hyath, the excuse being the assasination of a Marlan prince on Hyan land.

Hyan capital Fobes bloodily captured by Marlan troops.

Hyath drives out Marlan with Christotan and Astic assistance.

The region of Moulin in north-east Astmad rebels.  Nesal quickly sends aid, hoping to set it up as a buffer state.

Nesaln advance halted at the River Yale.  Branthian sucessfully brought into the war, redirecting Chatrif's attentions.  After a border skirminsh, Moulin turns its attention south to threaten Pedrop.

Christotans invaide Marlan and reach their capital, redirecting much of their forces.  Astmad uses the chance to redouble their efforts against Nesal but are heavily defeated at Damache.  Norisca takes advantage of the unrest to launch more destructive raids on the Bay of Disune coast, terrorising Branthian and Dell in particular.

Marlan pulls out of the war, in return for Christoté's withdrawal.  Christotan troops push northwards, almost cutting off the Nesal advance force but beaten back by a reserve army.  King Basse begins the rule of the Kallant dynasty in Dell.

Steady retreat of the Nesal army, twice defeating the Astic & Christotans as they go.  Further reinforcements sent to Moulin, allowing them to defeat Pedrop and overrun northern part of country.

Nesal stops at western edge of Baldran Uplands and stalemate reached.  Astmad reinforcements sent to Pedrop, lifting brief siege of the capital.

Christoté brokers peace treaty between warring factions.  All previous borders are respected but Astmad reluctantly accepts Moulin's independence.  Christotan regiment left behind to protect Astmad; supposedly a temporary measure still in place in 1334.

Norisca invaides Branthian across the Bay of Disune and quickly conquers it.

Narkusk conquered by Norisca, this time from a joint land/sea attack.  Another Noriscan fleet burns Warric ports.
