From an old aristocratic family in Elsey. Named by her father as his heir in his will, despite two elder brothers and an elder sister; after his death, had to win a protracted legal battle to get the inheritance, which at one time saw her accused of poisoning her father. Also married to Bruchan Fortanu, a merchant of some standing; started divorce proceedings against him in 1324, on grounds of his brutality and infidelity. Another protracted struggle, while he tried to claim her estates, allied himself for a while with Arlint's siblings. Arlint finally triumphed in 1327; won Fortanu's Baron of Elsey seat two years later. All this has made her a heroine for some and a demon for others. Made a Principal Member of Tatel's Privy Council in 1330 after some rather blatant promises of reward for support for Tatel's election campaign. Due more to practical problems than anything it is unusual for non-Dorlafan Barons to sit on the Council, but Arlint shuttles between the capital and her Dydsan Shore estates tirelessly. Another key ally of Tatel's and a long time friend of her, she does a good line in Grand Dame performances.
